Renovation of a detached house in 49124 Georgsmarienhütte

The detached house (built in 1962) underwent extensive renovation in 2015. The ground floor was fitted with underfloor heating using the IDEAL CLASSIC EPS 30 and the COMPACT FLOOR PRO 12 , with tiles and parquet flooring. The same system was installed on the ceiling and sloping roof walls of the upper floor, as well as additional wall heating in the bathroom. Triple-glazed windows were installed. Insulation was limited to the top floor ceiling and the basement ceiling. Instead of further insulation measures, the focus was on upgrading the building services, including a heat pump, a ventilation system with heat recovery, and a photovoltaic system.

Comparison of electricity consumption for full-room heating

SYSTEM IDEAL WITH HEAT PUMP AS FULL ROOM HEATING

The building was equipped with the IDEAL system for radiant heating and cooling on the floor, walls, and ceiling, as well as a heat pump that also provides hot water. As part of the renovation, a 7.8 kWp photovoltaic system was installed, along with a ventilation system with heat recovery. To create a cozy atmosphere, a fireplace was installed, integrated into the heating system via a water jacket.

Up to 29% of energy consumption can be covered by PV electricity.

Analysis of energy consumption

The total electricity consumption of the detached house amounts to 10,210 kWh. This figure includes the household electricity consumption of the family of five, as well as the electricity consumption for the heat pump (heating, cooling, hot water) and the ventilation system. With an average household electricity consumption of approximately 5,000 Wh*, about 5,210 kWh are attributable to the heat pump and ventilation system. Approximately 29% of this demand was covered by the photovoltaic system, reducing grid consumption to 3,700 kWh. The annual wood consumption for the fireplace is 4 cubic meters.

TOTAL ENERGY COSTS

Before the renovation, annual oil consumption was approximately 5,000 liters, resulting in costs of €4,970. Thanks to the modernization and the installation of the IDEAL system with a heat pump, electricity costs now amount to approximately €1,667.20 per year.
The additional use of renewable energy generated by photovoltaics reduces electricity costs by about 29%, resulting in energy costs of €1,184 per year.
